Sunday Random Rail Shot
Local railroad museums and societies can be a great place to take your family for honest fun. Normally the people who operate and/or volunteer are dedicated, hardworking, and enthusiastic about passing their collective knowledge on to anyone who shows an interest.
My family is blessed to have the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society located nearby. Not only is it home to the famous Nickel Plate Berkshire 765 but it is also a wonderful place to roam around and talk to people who share a common interest. If you live in the area surrounding North-East Indiana I would recommend contacting them for a visit. They are open Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm and during the week by appointment. Their annual open house is actually next weekend (16, 17, & 18 August 2013) so get out there if you can. Check out their website for more detailed information: http://fortwaynerailroad.org/
